Porthgwarra is a picturesque fishing hamlet in West Cornwall, just around the corner from Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre. There is a tiny beach at low tide with many interesting rock pools and caves. At the foot of the slipway there is a tunnel which was dug by miners from St Just to allow access to the beach for farmers so they could retrieve seaweed by horse and cart. The famous scene in Poldark featuring Ross skinny-dipping in the crystal clear water was filmed at Porthgwarra Cove, as well as many other scenes.
